Your newborn grows and changes faster than you can imagine—those tiny features, delicate expressions, and the soft way they sleep won’t wait. Booking a newborn session with Jen Oswald Photography ensures these first fleeting moments are captured with the calm, experienced care they deserve: gentle posing, safe handling, and a relaxed studio environment designed for babies and parents. I specialize in creating timeless images that reflect your family’s connection, using neutral tones and thoughtful styling so the focus stays on your baby and the emotions of this season. Investing in a professional newborn session means you’ll have beautifully composed, high-quality photographs to cherish, share, and pass down—tangible memories that keep this precious time alive for years to come.

We will want to schedule your newborn session within the first 7–14 days, when babies are sleepier and more easily posed. For older newborns, we will focus on awake, alert images and parent-baby interactions. Choose neutral tones, pastels, and muted palettes for timeless images, or choose fun bold colors that match your nursery! We supply all props, wraps, headbands, bonnets, and outfits.

 FAQs

  • Book your session as soon as you can! I only take a set amount of sessions per month, so you'll want to secure your spot as soon as you can. We'll want to book your session when baby is between 7 and 14 days, so please do not wait until baby is born! I am no longer accepting last minute session.

  • Studio sessions will typically be booked in the morning, when baby is most happy.

  • You are welcome to have an outfit change if you'd like. For studio sessions; you will want to bring a backup outfit in case you get peed or pooed on while diaper changing!

  • Studio Sessions last between 2-4 hours, depending on which package you choose and how many breaks baby will need for eating and changing.

  • Wardrobe color is an important factor for newborn sessions! We want your outfits to be flattering, while flowing along with your home's décor or our neutral backdrops. Solid earth tones are lovely for all skin tones. I like to stick to ivory, white or soft color shades. We don't want a lot of prints or designs that may distract from baby; solid colors are always a great choice. Flowy maxi or midi dresses that are nursing-friendly are always a great choice. You can't go wrong with your newborn in a basic white onesie. This is a classic look that blends well with everything. Dads look great in solid colored button-down shirts or henley, with well-kept jeans or khakis.

  • A $75 retainer is due at the time of booking for all sessions. The remaining balance is due 24 hours before the session date/time; I will send an invoice for the remaining balance 3-5 days prior.

  • Yes! Additional images may be purchased for all sessions.

  • Yes, each photo is professionally edited and retouched by hand, such as the removal of acne or unwanted scars.
